Rajit Kapur says the 1993 show Byomkesh Bakshi got him recognition 

Doordarshan recently took their viewers down the memory lane when they decided to re-telecast some of their classic shows from the 90s including Ramayan, Mahabharat and Byomkesh Bakshi. Rajit Kapur played Byomkesh Bakshi in the 1993 series.

Talking to a daily, Rajit Kapur speaking about the re-run of the show said that it has been airing every three years but now more audience especially the next generation will watch it. He said that people who watched it 20 years ago are now showing it to their children. 

Talking about his early memories associated with the show, he said that it was like shooting for a film and that it was because of Byomkesh Bakshi that he got recognised. He said that even to date people recognise him as Byomkesh even if they do not remember his name. 

Rajit Kapur further said that more than two decades ago, shooting for television shows was not hectic and strenuous. He said that they would start rolling at nine o'clock in the morning and would pack up by 6.30 pm unless there was a late-night shift.  He said that they would work regularly without a break, but it was not like the killing 12-15 hours of shoot like it is today.

Mrunal Thakur says she played the role of a mother of two at 18

Actress Mrunal Thakur shined through 2019 with her performance in Super 30 and the cop drama Batla House. The actress while talking to a tabloid said that after the encouraging reviews, the responsibility of delivering consistently has increased.

Mrunal has two sports dramas coming up this year- first is the remake of Nani's Telugu film Jersey with Shahid Kapoor. Mrunal and Shahid play parents to a young boy. However, she is unfazed by the prospect of on-screen motherhood. She said that she has known women who had kids in their early 20s and she herself has played the role of a mother of two at the age of 18 in a commercial. 

Mrunal will also be seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Toofan, in which she is cast opposite Farhan Akhtar who plays a boxer. Talking about her character, she said that it has a certain graph and music is what helped her prep for the same. She said that the challenge while juggling Jersey and Toofan was to make both characters distinctly different. She further said that it is tough to do two things in a different way. 

Mrunal will be ending the year with a quirky comedy, Umesh Shukla's Aankh Micholi which has an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Abhimanyu Dassani, Sharman Joshi and Divya Dutta.

Kangana Ranaut donates Rs. 25 lakh to PM-CARES Fund and provides ration for daily wagers

Amidst the global pandemic COVID-19, the country has been under lockdown for 21 days. And while the crisis has hit a section of the society, some famous personalities and popular celebrities have come forward in doing their bit towards helping out those who are severely affected due to the current situation. Kangana Ranaut has become the latest celebrities to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund.

Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel took to Twitter to inform about her contribution."Kangana has also contributed to PM cares 25 lakhs and donated Ration to daily wage earners families, we need to stand united and do what best we can, many thanks from our family "


Kangana Ranaut is not the only member in her family who has made a generous contribution in the fight against COVID-19. Her mother Asha Ranaut has given up her one month's pension.

"My mother gave her one month pension, we don't know how long lockdown will last we need to survive with what we have but we can make few adjustments for the nation, thanks @narendramodi Ji for giving us a chance to contribute #PMCARES @PMOIndia," Rangoli tweeted.

Like several other people, Pankaj Tripathi too has been at home from the past one week. Talking to a news agency, Pankaj Tripathi said that actors are often closely associated with writing even in projects they are just acting in. He said that artists communicate to the audience what the writer is trying to tell, through their body language and his ability to emote.

Pankaj said that writing is a creative extension of him and he is not doing it with the motive of writing a screenplay. He started writing to keep his skills sharpened. For Pankaj, writing and acting are interconnected and he is writing to fulfil his own creative quest. The actor said that if the final product is to his satisfaction, he will then think of what to do.

Meanwhile, on the work front, he will next be seen in '83 and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl which has Janhvi Kapoor in the lead.

Yash Raj Films show their support towards FWICE; seek bank details of 15000 daily wagers

The shooting of film and television shows were suspended on March 19 owing to the coronavirus outbreak. Daily wage cine workers were the most affected by this move. Several celebrities have been donating towards the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees). Yash Raj Films, led by Aditya Chopra has now reached out to the FWICE seeking the bank account details of the daily wagers.

Gangeshwar Srivastav, the treasurer of FWICE speaking to a tabloid said that the team of YRF called for account details of the daily wagers on Tuesday. He further said that they sent the details of 15,000 daily wagers. This is the first big production house that has come forward to show its support.

Over the past few days, several celebrities have made valuable contributions to the FWICE. Salman Khan is looking into all the essential needs of 25,000 daily wagers and their families, while Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn have donated Rs. 51 lakhs each to the FWICE.

Ajay Devgn comes forward to help daily wage earners, donates Rs 51 lakh to FWICE

India is currently in a vulnerable situation because of the Coronavirus pandemic. While the lockdown has been called to protect citizens from the virus, it has affected all including the daily wage workers of the entertainment industry. Several bodies as well as celebrities have come forward to help those in need, Ajay Devgn being one of them.

To support those in need at this hour, Ajay has made a donation of 51 lakhs towards Federation of Western India Cinema Employees. The President of IFTDA, Ashoke Pandit thanked Ajay on social media for his contribution. Dear @ajaydevgn, we thank U for your generous contribution of ₹51 lakhs towards @fwice_mum, for the benefit of our 5 lakh #CineWorkers. U have proved time & again, especially in times of crisis, that U are a real life #Singham. God bless U," Pandit wrote, and also shared a video message.


FWICE recently undertook an initiative, as part of which they have been distributing grocery kits consisting of essential items to daily wage earners of the industry.

Coronavirus outbreak: Reality shows come to a halt midway

About two weeks back, film and TV bodies unanimously decided to halt the shoots of all entertainment products in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Work is now on halt till the lock-down is lifted, and the ongoing reality shows had to change plans.

The major reality shows that had been shooting were India's Best Dancer, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champ and Roadies 18. As reported by a leading daily, participants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li's Champ and their parents were transported back home by the production house on March 19th, soon after it was announced that shoots were going to stop.

All the participants of India's Best Dancer, however, could not get home. While the Mumbai-based ones headed back, the rest were accommodated at a suburban hotel and assured a comfortable stay by the production. They have been living there for two weeks now, and doctor visits have also been arranged for them.

Shoot of Roadies went on till mid-March, post which the makers made sure everyone reached home safely.

India is presently under a 21-day lock-down which is expected to be lifted after 14th April.
