Shekhar Kapur to be questioned on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

After questioning several friends of the deceased star it is now filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s turn. Shekhar spent a good two years with Sushant prepping for the purported epic love story Paani with Sushant and the ‘Black’ child actress Ayesha Kapur now all grown up, in the lead.

After two years of rehearsals and workshops the film was called off. Apparently the cops are spreading their net far and wide for questioning ensuring that every aspect of the tragic death is amply investigated.

Paani was Shekhar and Sushant’s dream project. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it was set in a futuristic Mumbai where water is the most precious resource. Paani was going to be Shekhar’s own take on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet with Sushant playing a street-smart ruffian from ‘Level B’ who befriends the rich heiress (Ayesha Kapur) from ‘Level A’.

When the project was aborted it not only killed Shekhar and Sushant’s dream, but also effectually finished off Ayesha Kapur’s career.

Sushant Singh Rajput wanted to do theatre with Laila Majnu

If he had lived the next stage in his career for Sushant Singh Rajput was not film production as some vested interests would like us to believe, but theatre. Sushant was constantly in search of expanding his creative horizons. In this endeavour he was exploring the theatre.

Confirming this, filmmaker Rumi Jaffery who is a keen theatre enthusiast, says Sushant and he were in serious discussions about doing a stage play in the near future with Annu Kapoor as Sushant’s co-star.

Says Rumi, “Sushant was constantly exploring new areas as a performer. Acting was all that he was keen on he wanted to make that transition from cinema to theatre. And we had discussed what he wanted to do on stage.”

Apparently it was an old stage play of Rumi Jaffery featuring Annu Kapoor and Rumi Jaffery that interested Sushant. “He wanted to revive Laila Majnu, a play that I had done for Parsi theatre with Annu Kapoor in 1988-89. Parsi theatre intrigued Sushant. In Laila Majnu all the dialogues were spoken in rhymed couplets. Sushant enjoyed that. He wanted to be part of that play.”

Rumi had already spoken to Annu Kapoor and an updated version of Laila Majnu on stage was being planned.

Sighs Rumi, “Sushant and I sat with Annu Kapoorji and discussed the play. There are so many things that Sushant wanted to do. He was always bubbling over with ideas. He wanted to reach the stars. Now he is up there.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui's wife claims she has recording of actor admitting to not sending legal notice

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lie about sending a legal defamation notice to his wife has been nailed by his wife. His PR team had put out a story that he had sent a legal notice to his wife Anjana Anand Kishore Pandey (nee Aliya Siddiqui) for defamation and also claimed that contrary to her claims he has been paying for his children’s maintenance all along. However in a conversation that his wife taped, one can hear Nawaz sheepishly mumbling that he has not sent her any notice but may soon do so.

To this his wife is heard saying he is walking on slippery ground. And she is right. Nawaz will have to quietly comply with his wife’s requests, or be prepared for a messy public expose of all the skeletons that are apparently waiting to tumble out of his cupboard.

While his legal team has put an embargo on Nawazuddin’s public voice, it can safely be said that Nawaz is not ready for a bitter legal battle ahead.

A source close the development reveals, “Nawaz wanted it all done amicably. He never wanted the differences between his wife and him to be made public. He wanted the divorce to be quiet and amicable. But it’s gone into the public domain.”

There will be a lot of muck-raking from both parties in the coming weeks and months. Nawaz who is grappling with a number of domestic problems simultaneously (besides his impending divorce, his niece has accused his brother of improper behaviour) would want his children to be spared the pain and suffering.

“Nawaz wants to start his life on a clean slate. But his two children will always be a part of that slate,” says the source.

James Gunn confirms his version of The Suicide Squad will release in theatres

Filmmaker James Gunn is currently working on the reboot of DC's The Suicide Squad. In February this year, the crew wrapped up the principal photography. As Hollywood has completely shut down the shooting of films, fans are skeptical whether the film will release in theatres or not.

Ahead of DC FanDome event, James Gunn asked the fans to share questions that they would like to be answered. One fan asked whether one day also be a "James Gunn Cut"? like the Snyder Cut. Gunn was quick to respond that his cut is actually the theatrical version which has always been released. "Every James Gunn Cut ever has been released into theatres. The Suicide Squad will be no different."

The Suicide Squad is a reboot of 2016’s Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis reprising their roles. The new cast includes Idris Elba, John Cena, Nathan Fillion, and Peter Capaldi and it is scheduled to release on August 6, 2021.

Debina Bonnerjee shares the experience of her first day back on shoot

Shooting schedules have slowly and steadily resumed, and actors are adjusting to the new normal comprising of masks, temperature checks and limited people on set. Actress Debina Bonnerjee too, has got back to her very first day of shoot on the sets of Aladdin Naam Toh Suna Hoga. While she is nervous about it, Debina is also very happy to be resuming work after a long gap!

Speaking about how her first day on set turned out to be, Debina shares, "While resuming to set was making me feel very nervous, the arrangements made here have been very good. The set now has a three tier entry system where your oxygen level in the body is checked, along with your temperature and pulse rate. A sanitizing booth has also been set up, and a COVID-19 expert has also been stationed on set to perform regular checks on all of us. The feeling is still very nerve-wracking because you can't see the virus, but we are all being taken good care of, the precautionary measures are well in place, so what we can hope for is to be safe and sound."

EXO’s Baekhyun sells over 1 million copies of Delight becoming first soloist in 19 Years to achieve this milestone

It's the season of comebacks in the K-pop music industry! K-pop group EXO's singer Baekhyun has made his comeback with his second mini-album called 'Delight' that dropped on May 25, 2020. The fun R&B album received tremendous response. With the title track 'Candy', Baekhyun released a music video that has a feel-good yet playfulness to it.

According to SM Entertainment, the parent company of EXO, Baekhyun's second mini-album has sold over 1,018,746 copies as of June 30, 2020. This makes the 28-year-old singer the first soloist in 19 years to achieve this milestone. The last artist to do so was Kim Gun Mo with his seventh album in 2001.

In a special video, Baekhyun thanked the fans, EXO-Ls for helping him achieve this record. He said, “Hello, EXO-L. Thanks to you, our EXO-L, I’ve set a grand record. I’ve told you through V Live in the past that you should feel proud. The record was achieved not on my own, but with our EXO-L, so please enjoy feeling proud. I’ll continue to make you happier, so please wait a bit. Until the day we can meet offline, let’s meet online often while we wait for that day. EXO-L, thank you so much. 'Delight', the mini-album, will consist of seven tracks. In 2019, Baekhyun made his solo debut with his R&B album 'City Lights' with 'UN Village' as the title track. As a group, EXO made their comeback last year with 'Obsession' as their title song.
