Samara Tijori, daughter of Deepak Tijori, makes her acting debut with Bob Biswas; plays Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter

The thriller, Bob Biswas, was released today on Zee5 and stars Abhishek Bachchan in the role of the assassin, previously essayed by Saswata Chatterjee in Kahaani (2012). From the trailers, viewers have learnt that Chitrangda Singh and Tina Desai also feature in this film, written by Kahaani’s director Sujoy Ghosh and directed by his daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh. But what many have not realized is that the actor that plays Abhishek’s daughter is Samara Tijori. She is none other than the daughter of the popular 90s actor, Deepak Tijori.

In Bob Biswas, she plays the role of Mini Biswas, daughter of Bob and Mary Biswas (Chitrangda Singh). She is studying hard for the medical entrance exams and as per her teacher, her efforts are not as per the desired levels. With no other option, she gets addicted to a drug named ‘Blue’ that keeps her energized for longer hours and thus helps her in her studies. How it leads to problems for her and how her track is connected with that of Bob Biswas the assassin forms an interesting and significant part of the film.

In a 2018 interview, Deepak Tijori had revealed that Samara had finished her graduation and that she has taken up lessons in acting. Interestingly, she has also assisted in films like Dishoom (2016), starring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, and Jacqueline Fernandez, and Vicky Kaushal’s horror flick Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship (2020). While Bob Biswas is her debut feature film, she has earlier acted in a short film named Grand Plan.

Vishal Furia's spine-chilling horror thriller Bali to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 9

Amazon Prime Video today announced the global release of the Marathi horror-thriller Bali, starring one of Marathi cinema’s most revered actors Swapnil Joshi, along with Pooja Sawant and Samarth Jadhav. Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Furia, (Lapachhapi and its recent Hindi remake, Amazon Original Movie Chhorii), and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar’s GSEAMS (Global Sports Entertainment and Media Solutions Private Limited), Bali is set to premiere on Prime Video on 9 December in India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Vishal Furia's spine-chilling horror thriller Bali to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 9

Bali is about the life of a widowed, middle-class father, Shrikant (Swapnil Joshi), which takes an unexpected turn when his 7-year-old son Mandar (Samarth Jadhav) collapses and is referred to a Jan Sanjeevani hospital for a detailed diagnosis. Things change when Mandar starts talking to a mysterious nurse, who he claims is staying in the abandoned part of the hospital.

“Amazon Prime Video has always strived to bring its viewers content that stand out in terms of storytelling, layered narratives, and compelling performances,” said Manish Menghani, head of acquisition, India content, Amazon Prime Video. “Following the love that consumers have showered on Chhorii, we are thrilled to continue our association with Vishal Furia, who is attempting to redefine the horror genre in India. With a stellar cast, including Swapnil Joshi, Bali adds further value to our ever-expanding language content portfolio.”

Director Vishal Furia added, “As a genre, I have been drawn to horror and it’s been my constant effort to break new ground with every film in this space. The best kind of horror films are psychological, which create empathy for characters despite their basic premise being far from reality. The more we believe what we are watching, the more immersive the experience becomes. This is exactly what Bali is about, dealing with a gamut of emotions, fear being the biggest among them all. I would like to thank producers Arjun and Kartk for believing in the work I do. After the overwhelming response to Chhorii, I am looking forward to audiences’ reaction to this film upon its release on Amazon Prime Video.”

Producers Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar of GSEAMS added: “There is no denying that horror as a genre appeals to a vast expanse of audience. However, it calls for a lot of authenticity and precision in the narrative to become a success. With Bali, our attempt has always been to present new-age content that is immersive and appealing to the audiences. We are extremely thrilled that we will be able to take this story—steered by director Vishal Furia, who specializes in this genre, and woven with brilliant performances by versatile actors like Swapnil Joshi and Pooja Sawant—to a global audience through Amazon Prime Video.”

Alec Baldwin breaks down in first interview after Rust shooting that killed Haylna Hutchins, says ‘ I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger’

American actor-producer Alec Baldwin has now said that he never pulled the trigger of the gun that shot director of photography Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust.

Alec Baldwin breaks down in first interview after Rust shooting that killed Haylna Hutchins, says ‘ I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger’

In an excerpt released on Wednesday from the sit-down interview with ABC news, set to air on Thursday, Baldwin said, “The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger.” When asked why he pointed the gun at Hutchins and pulled the trigger when that wasn't in the script, Baldwin said, “I would never point a gun at anyone and then pull the trigger, never.”

Baldwin also said he has no idea how a live bullet got in the Colt .45 revolver he used in the scene. “Someone put a live bullet in the gun, a bullet that wasn't even supposed to be on the property,” he said. An emotional Baldwin visibly fought back tears when talking about Hutchins. “She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with her, liked by everyone who worked with her -- and admired," Baldwin said, adding, "it doesn't seem real to me.”

When asked if the shooting was the worst thing that had ever happened to him, Baldwin said yes, “because I think back and I think, what could I have done?”

Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza injured in October after Baldwin discharged a weapon during a rehearsal that contained what authorities suspect was a live round. The incident, which remains under investigation, has renewed calls for better safety practices on sets with regards to the use of weapons. Baldwin has said he believes police officers should be present on “every film/TV set that uses guns, fake or otherwise” to monitor weapons safety.

The actor, best known for playing an egotistical TV network executive on TV comedy series 30 Rock has kept a low profile since the October shooting in New Mexico. Two crew members have filed lawsuits accusing Baldwin, the producers and others on the production of negligence and lax safety protocols. The producers have said they are conducting their own internal investigation.
